What’s the best way to get caught up on the latest industry news, learn about important regulatory updates, and network with influential governmental accounting professionals? BKG answered this question by sending Kim, Danielle, and Amy to the annual Governmental Finance Officers Association Conference in Chicago, Illinois.
The three day GFOA conference is a nationally recognized event that provides unprecedented educational opportunities for both governmental employees and their auditors. This year’s conference focused on ways that local governments could generate successful outcomes in today’s economic, regulatory, and technologically-centric environments. Because the GFOA is a national organization, the conference seminars were led by a wide variety of presenters who brought refreshingly new ideas to the floor about financial management, budgeting techniques, and performance measurement. BKG has been working to share these ideas with clients and incorporate them into current engagements.
In addition to learning about new ways to help BKG’s clients in their dealings with government regulators, Kim, Danielle, and Amy had the opportunity to explore Chicago during their time off from the conference. Architecture tours, a visit to Wrigley Field to see the Cubs, and an unforgettable deep-dish pizza helped to make the trip an all around success.
