After winning three consecutive championships, Team BKG is once again anxious to defend its title in the always rugged PFCS Softball League Although the bar has been set quite high for the BKG softball team for the 2013, the addition of some new faces to the squad has Team BKG optimistic that it will be up to the challenge of defending its crown.
Good Luck Team BKG!
The City of Pittsburgh Marathon, held on Sunday, May 5, presented BKG’s elite runners with an enormous athletic challenge.
The Pittsburgh Marathon is one of the most exciting and prestigious races to in the nation. The race not only attracts thousands of runners who make their way through Pittsburgh’s numerous neighborhoods and past important City landmarks, but also large crowds who gather at various venues throughout the City to cheer on the runners. BKG’s runners were anxious to showcase their abilities after months of training for the big race.
This year, Ed ran the half marathon, while Tom and Darren and some BKG clients participated on a BKG sponsored relay team. Each participant was pleased with their results, and plans are already in the works for next year’s race!
Congratulations to all of the BKG Marathon runners!
The best way to celebrate the beginning of summer = Cinco de Mayo at BKG!
Due to busy schedules, BKG often plans lunch meetings in the office as a way to catch up with each other. In May, however, the lunch gathering took on a special twist! In honor of Cinco de Mayo, a Mexican lunch festival was planned for the afternoon of May 3. Each person brought in a Mexican dish to share with all of BKG. The delicious assortment of Mexican food made for a wonderful afternoon feast for the entire staff.
Team BKG participated in the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s 13th Annual Race to Any Place held on February 23, 2013 in the plaza of the US Steel Tower.
BKG’s annual participation in the Race to Any Place is a highly anticipated event in the office because of the excitement of the race day and the opportunity to support the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s fundraising efforts.
For the 9th year in a row, BKG lined up a team of energetic bikers (made up of current BKG employees, BKG alumni, and friends) to take 15 minute shifts on the stationary bikes during the 6 hour race. During the race, Team BKG cheered each other on as each person took their shift.
The hard work was well worth it. Team BKG rode a total of 116 miles, surpassing previous years’ totals. Each biker on Team BKG also met their individual mileage goals. With such sterling efforts, the bar has been set for next year’s race, and Team BKG cannot wait to participate in this event again!
The 2012 Christmas party celebrated another great year at BKG!
Each year, BKG anxiously anticipates the Christmas party day for the chance to reflect on the year that was and discuss plans for the year ahead. This year’s gathering was no exception! The featured entertainment of the party was the second annual BKG Christmas Party Pool Tournament at the Duquesne Club, with BKG and BKG alumni facing off against each other in the heated but friendly competition. The tournament concluded in a rematch of the 2011 final game between Tom and Ed, but this year Ed took the 1st place prize!
The excitement of the pool tournament and the celebratory nature of the day’s gatherings were a festive way to start off the 2012 Holiday Season.
In what has become an annual holiday tradition, BKG contributed to the Allegheny County Department of Human Services’ “Holiday Project.” Every year, the Holiday Project collects donations and gifts to distribute to children within the Allegheny County Children, Youth and Families network. As a result of the work that BKG performs for human services agencies across Pennsylvania, BKG is very familiar with the many important services provided by these agencies to dependent children and their families. BKG is glad to support efforts like the Holiday Project to make the Holiday Season a little brighter for those who are in need.
After BKG staff made their contributions, the amounts were generously matched by the BKG partners. BKG hopes to continue the tradition of supporting the Holiday Project for many years to come!
